Together Alabama doesn't have to be last at everything!! Minnesota has already passed this law I am counting on everyone's support to make a difference for Alabama families! Please want you consider signing the petition to make a difference in many lives and also share on your face book page to see a change in Alabama Schools and families! Our children's individual needs should be considered. Parents know their children best and should have input on their placement! Why People Are Signing kelly houston (Petition Organizer) about 1 month ago 1 person likes this reason To allow parents to decide if their twins should be together in the same classroom and not have it mandated that they will separate just because it's the law! Minnesota has already passed this law please help change the law for Alabama families and to allow parents to decide what is their children's best individual needs are and have input on their child's placement.

Mom Who Left Twins in Car That Rolled Away

Mom Who Left Twins in Car That Rolled Away Deserves More Understanding??? What do you think? Should this mom be charged? Have you ever made a poor decision that you regretted but learned from? Motherhood is hard work. I don't care who you are -- parenthood (yep, looking at the dads, too) is tough stuff and we all make mistakes. Okay, so some of those mistakes are really, really bad ones and are more than just mistakes. I'm not going to point fingers, but you know what I'm talking about. But some mistakes are the result of a lack of sleep and a seemingly desperate situation. That's what I think happened with Natalie Akselrod, a mom of 6-month-old twins who was arrested after she left her sleeping babies in the minivan strapped in their car seats so she could run into the drugstore to drop off a prescription. Her minivan, however, was left in neutral and when she went into the store, it rolled out of its spot and nearly crashed into another car. The 35-year-old New Jersey mom regrets the incident and says it was a "momentary lapse in judgment." This I understand. Think hard. Haven't you done something, anything, even a little thing, that you realize you shouldn't have done? I think we all have. Though we all haven't had the horrifying outcome that Akselrod had, complete with over eight hours in jail. She says it was the longest she was away from her twins and the difficult ordeal was compounded by the fact she's a breastfeeding mom who couldn't feed her babies. More from The Stir: Couple Shave Daughter's Head & Force Her to Wear a Diaper for Getting Bad Grades "They're my life. I would never put them in danger," she said. But she made a mistake. She knows that. She admits that she should not have left them even for a second. She was dealing with a sick child who had not slept in 22 hours. They were at the emergency room a couple of days before. It was pouring rain and the sick child was finally asleep in the car, along with his twin brother. At the time she thought running in was the best choice. A sick kid who finally fell asleep. I get it. In her insomnia, the thought of all the unbuckling and buckling was too much. It's clear she wasn't thinking straight. She did leave the car in neutral. And she didn't lock the doors ... which turned out to be a good thing. As the car started to roll away, a passerby managed to get one of the babies out of the car after it nearly hit another car. Akeselrod's lawyer said she will be pleading not guilty to child endangerment charges: "I think my client has suffered enough. This happens in towns across America. Moms have errands to run. I don’t think we want to put moms in jail for doing what they need to do." I think she deserves a break, too. Moms know leaving a child in a car is a bad idea for many reasons. But we make mistakes. We have lapses of judgment. She deserves a little more understanding and compassion. I think she learned her lesson and isn't a threat to her children. What do you think? Should this mom be charged? Have you ever made a poor decision that you regretted but learned from?

YOU KNOW YOU'RE A MOM OF MULTIPLES WHEN...

YOU KNOW YOU'RE A MOM OF MULTIPLES WHEN... 1. You have a closet just for diapers and wipes. 2. Every where you go you are looked at like a circus clown. 3. People feel the need to ask VERY personal questions. EXAMPLES - What did you do to get twins/triplets etc? Are they natural? Are they identical? Were they early? 4. You use your feet as two extra hands. 5. You see people with one baby having a hard time and think, "One baby?...I laugh at your one baby!" 6. You get excited when you see a buy one get one free sign. 7. When you were pregnant, people pointed and looked at your belly, saying "WOW!" 8. Your diaper bag looks like you are going on vacation. 9. In public, people look in horror (or laugh) when your kids run in separate directions. 10. You give a blank look to the person asking what are your kids names, because you honestly can't remember, due to sleep deprivation. 11. You can't buy anything on sale because you can never find more than one. 12. You get mad when you see one baby in a double shopping cart. 13. You sometimes have to take a double look to figure out who is who. 14. Your biceps are as big as a man's from carrying 2 car seats around. 15. You realize to be somewhere early, you need to start getting ready 2 hours before. 16. You have the urge to smack every person who complains about being tired. 17. You have fifteen minute conversations about your multiples with complete strangers at any given store. 18. You have an incredible mental tally in your head. (who you last held, who pooed, who ate, who had Tylenol and at what time, etc.) 19. You consider it a major triumph if you shower by noon. 20. You dress your multiples the same not because its cute, because its easier. (And you secretly like it when people can't tell them apart!) 21. You have learned the art of picking two babies up at a time. 22. You approach a mom of multiples without hesitation. 23. You imagine hurting your singleton mom friends when they mention being tired or how hard work it is with one baby. 24. You leave for a date with your hubby with your diaper bag instead of a purse. 25. You have given the evil eye to all the singleton moms in baby shops choosing their single stroller from a choice of hundreds. 26. You drop something and without hesitation pick it up with your toes. 27. You can't go out the house without being gawked at or stopped by random strangers. 28. You have a whole photo album of ultrasound photos. 29. You watch shows like "Jon & Kate Plus 8" and "Octomom" to make yourself feel better. 30. You avoiding going places because your double stroller won't fit through the doorway Haha.. Love this! So which ones are the most relatable for you? ♥ Jess @ Mamma of Multiples on facebook

What to Buy for Twins

Starting out you do not need to buy two of everything.  For the first couple of months you can even get buy with just one crib.  I used a Graco Pack n Play with a bassinet for the first couple of months.  You will need LOTS of diapers and baby wipes.  A Double Stroller is also a must if you ever want to leave your house.  Preferably one that is compatible with your also must have infant baby carriers/car seats. That way you don't have to wake a sleeping baby to take them from the car to the stroller.  Bottles, even if you are going to breastfeed; that way you can pump as well.  If you need to pump to produce more breast milk, I highly recommend a Hospital grade breast pump, which you can probably rent from your hospital.  Also a twin nursing pillow to comfortably feed them at the same time (this is possible).  You only need one Baby Tub; and that is not needed right away as you will only sponge bathe your babies until their umbilical cord falls off.  It is not necessary to buy baby towels, they dry off great with our towels.  Lots of onsies, some baby blankets, Baby nail clippers (so they don't scratch their pretty little faces or each other)  And if you can afford it, hire a house cleaner once a week or every other week.  This would be nice even during the second half of your pregnancy as it gets hard to do everything.  I think I covered the must haves, if I forgot something feel free to add it in the comments below.

Twins Survival Guide by Suzannah Peel

So, let me guess. You’ve never worked so hard, you’ve never been so exhausted and this isn’t how you thought it would be You’re sleeping for less than forty minutes at a time. Your relationships are suffering, you’ve forgotten what the outside world looks like and you’ve eaten cereal for supper since the babies were born. Of course, you love your twins with all your heart, you feel lucky and blessed. But you wonder if you can cope. Surely, for the sake of your whole family, there must be ways to make your life with twins more manageable, enjoyable and fun.
Relax. There are plenty of things you can do to achieve this and the help you need is here in ‘Twins: The Survival Guide Ebook’. Because I don’t have to guess how you’re feeling, I’ve been there.
40 minutes sleep at a time, barely functioning, wracked with guilt and self-doubt that I was finding this so very hard, feeling completely useless and alone. Now I know better. I know that there were hundreds, if not thousands, of tips and tricks I could have used to make my life with twins easier. There’s loads of advice out there but being a Mom of twins the trick is having the time to find it. By the time the reality of twins strikes, you’re just too busy.
Lack of time is where this book comes in. If you’re a mom of twins you probably don’t have time to get dressed or showered in the morning; the last time you exercised was running out of the hospital door after a pregnancy scan confirmed twins.  You certainly don’t have the time to scour the internet for advice on twins and read forty seven, largely irrelevant, baby and twin books. So here it’s all been done for you. ‘Twins – The Survival Guide Ebook’ is the result of my own experience and that of many other twin moms I’ve interviewed. It is the distillation of research from many other books about twins (most of them very long-winded !) hundreds of WebPages and many letters and emails from scores of twin Moms, Dads and other carers who are already doing it or have done it. In short, this book is the advice you’d get if your grandmother, mother, sisters, sisters-in-law, all your friends and your hairdresser had twins!
If you already have twins and want to make your life easier, if you want more time to play with your twins and perhaps your other children, more time with your partner. Even if all you want right now is just more sleep, order this ebook now. You can download it in a few minutes and I guarantee you will immediately find ways to achieve all of this and very much more.  Suzannah Peel   Click here to Order:   Twins Survival Guide e-book

One of the best things you can do as soon as you find out that you are pregnant, is to write out a list of your goals for this pregnancy.  Examples could be; I will go full term, my babies will be healthy, My babies will be head down at time of delivery, I will not need to go on bed rest, Babies will be at least 5lbs each, etc.  I did this very early in my pregnancy and forgot about that little piece of scrap paper I jotted my goals onto and I didn't see it again until after the babies were born and to my amazement every one of my goals came to be.  :)

This is a link for a e-book with Practical Help And Advice From A Mother Of Twins, For Parents Expecting Or Bringing Up Twins.  The cost of this book is only $19.97 and you can read it right now.  It also has a printable version and you can choose which pages you want to print.

Interesting Facts About Twins

  • 22% of twins are left handed, where only 10% of the general population is left handed.
  • It is possible for twins to have different fathers.
  • Identical twins have different finger prints.
  • Twins most often develop their own language, this phenomena is called idioglossia.
  • Twins do not have to be born on the same date.  (My twins actually have different Birthdays, they were born about 20 minutes apart around midnight.)

 My Twins

Some companies have special offers for parents of Multiples

Now that you have, or are getting ready to have twins, you are going to start spending a lot more money.  Now is a great time to sign up at lots of websites for all the things that babies use, such as diapers, formula, baby food, etc.  Get on their mailing lists to receive coupons in the mail.  Some company will even give you some nice extra coupons if you tell them you are expecting multiples.  They will probably ask for proof (like copies of their crib cards).  It will be so worth it.  Some of the formula companies will even send you free cans of formula and checks towards the purchase of their formula.
Another method of saving money is buying generic or store brands.  If you choose to formula feed definitely check out all the different stores in your areas as they usually all carry a different generic brand.  And by law they All have to meet the same quality of standards so don't think you are cheating your babies.

Diapers are another Very Big expense.  You will have to try many different brands to find the one that works for you.  My favorite brand of diapers is Walgreen's Brand Diapers.  They are the best priced in my area and I even think they work better then Huggies or Pampers.  But if I have coupons for a name brand and can get them cheaper I will.

I also started a facebook page Moms & Dads with Twins & More.  At this time Feb. 12, 2012 I am nearing 200 likes.  There, you can ask other parents of twins questions too and make new friends that have twins like us.  Feel free to post any questions you may have about being pregnant with twins or caring for twins or anything other parents might be interested in.

Finding books about being pregnant with twins and raising twins was difficult.  This e-book will be helpful to you.  Click on the following link to take you to The Twins Survival Guide.  You may have to copy & past it into your browser.  http://44da2c54i6r8nkfxu4ug-sjwed.hop.clickbank.net/  There are also a couple more that I need to find.  Right now my 5 year old son is sick and my 3 year old daughter is hungry and it's 12:50am in the morning.

Pictures, pictures, pictures!  Make sure to document your growing belly with weekly photos and mark them with how many weeks you are.  It is amazing how much your stomach will expand.  Some people actually make a cast/molding of their pregnant belly.  I did not do this.  I wouldn't know where to get it done and I don't know where I would put something like that.   http://www.44da2c54i6r8nkfxu4ug-sjwed.hop.clickbank.net/

Totally off the topic, but today (technically yesterday since its after midnight)  Was a sad day in the music world; Singer Whitney Houston died Feb. 11, 2012.

Welcome to my blog.  I am new to blogging, but a very experienced Mom with five children.  At this time February 2012 my kids ages are 11, 5, 3, 1, 1.
I will never forget the day I went in for my ultrasound. I had my husband and our three kids in the room with me.  And the ultrasound technician said "Do twins run in you family?"  My husband is like, you're kidding and started laughing.  He has always joked about me being pregnant with twins and I always told him "I don't want twins"  I wanted to cry and it was hard for me not to.
Babies just woke up.
